Week Two: Tuscany, Italy

The "Tuscany Goup" on the steps of our villa outside Scarlino, Italy. The villa is owned by Sylvia's high-school friend, Christine, who graciously let us use it for free...including access to the wine cellar. We managed to go through 28 bottles of the wine they make on the estate. We particularly liked the Syrah.

Forty Miles of Bad Road
One of the many side trips we took was around the island of Argentario on which are the harbor towns of Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole. Even though the guide books show a real road all the way around, the road actually turns into a rutted, gravel path for half of it. Undeterred, we pressed on anyway...The views were fantastic if one had the courage to look down.

Glenn and Gloria with the most useful and entertaining tool of the trip...the electrical zapping fly-swatter, which produced an extemely satisfying lightning bolt when one hit one of the bug'ahs. Glenn was particularly adept at zapping the flies and mosquitos during the evening's drinking bouts in the living room.
