Week Three: Lucerne, Switzerland

We were joined in Lucerne by our friend Linda and her friends Melody, Susan, and Ralph. Here we have taken the gondolas up to the top of Mount Pilatus and are enjoying the sunshine at the top while eating and drinking (of course) with the Alps in the background to the south. After lunch we took the cog railway down the other side of the mountain (there is a story about that involving some obnoxious, pushy Germans and my "Butt Buddy" Melody...but that is another story). Then we took one of the ships back to Lucerne. A really good trip on an unusually spectacular day.

This is the elegant bar in the Palace Hotel on Lucerne's lake shore. At least it was elegant before this group showed up. We managed to run up a $300 bar bill (thanks Linda), drinking "American" Martinis, Cosmopolitans, Brandy Manhattens and Diet Cokes. Carlos the bartender was a lot of fun even though he tried to convince us he was Cuban (he was actually Portuguese) and the martini olives (wonderful) were Cuban (actually Portuguese as well).

This is my 57th birthday party at the Rebstock in Lucerne. Note that Suzie (Sylvia's sister) has joined us from London. Not a bad way to get older...

Week One: Minerve, France

Week Two: Tuscany, Italy
